FOG Design+Art Announces Galleries Selected for 2019 Fair

The sixth annual edition of FOG Design+Art will take place January 17–20, 2019 at Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, with a Preview Gala on Wednesday, January 16 to benefit the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). The 2019 fair will bring together a roster of 53 leading international design and visual art galleries, including 12 galleries that will be participating for the first time this year. In addition, FOG will feature a series of conversations and panel discussions with leading figures in the art and design world that will take place throughout the duration of the fair and are included with the price of admission.

In addition, FOG Design+Art is pleased to announce that it will honor Pamela J. Joyner at the 2019 Innovators Luncheon, which is presented by FENDI. Joyner is a passionate visionary and champion in her mission to reframe art history to include artists of African descent that have been previously overlooked. Joyner and her husband Fred J. Giuffrida are advocates and stewards for artists and their work, and together have established an artist residency, a mission-driven collection and a philanthropic practice that continues to push boundaries.

FOG Design+Art, which welcomed more than 12,000 visitors last year, will significantly expand its international purview this year. The fair will feature galleries from locations around the world including Berlin, Stockholm, London, Mexico City, Paris, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Galleries participating in the fair for the first time include Andrew Kreps Gallery, Anton Kern Gallery, Blain|Southern, Fergus McCaffrey, Galerie Perrotin, Hauser & Wirth, Karma, Modernity, neugerriemschneider, Petzel, Sarah Myerscough Gallery and Spruth Magers.

“The 2019 edition of the fair will reflect the tremendous growth that FOG has made over the past six years,” said steering committee member Katie Paige. “We are excited to provide space for a larger roster of galleries this year, and to have such impressive international diversity in our program. Each selected gallery takes a thoughtful approach to curating its booth, reflecting a beautiful intersection of art and design, and the unique nature of Bay Area collectors and art enthusiasts.”

FOG’s mission is to create a dialogue about the relationship between art and design, and to provide a platform for the Bay Area community, as well as an international host of curators, collectors and art world enthusiasts, to experience works of contemporary art and design by some of the most celebrated dealers of 20th-century and contemporary work.

Building on FOG’s longstanding commitment to SFMOMA, the Preview Gala, Innovators Luncheon and ArtBites events support SFMOMA’s exhibitions and education programs, while FOG Forum specifically raises funds for the museum’s Architecture and Design department. Each year, FOG represents a key moment in which the local and global community congregate to engage in critical dialogue, artistic exchanges and a shared passion for creative pursuits.
