Launched by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009, the Future Generation Art Prize is open to all artists up to the age of 35 with the aim of acknowledging and giving long-term support to a future generation of artists from all over the world.
The Main Prize Winner will receive a total of $100,000: $60,000 as a cash award, and $40,000 towards the production of new work. An additional $20,000 will be allocated to fund artist-in-residency programs for up to five Special prize-winners.
In 2014 the Future Generation Art Prize was supported by more than 60 Partner Platforms and 300 correspondent art experts who communicated the prize and engaged young artists worldwide. In order to give the global access to all applicants this year the application procedure was available in 10 different languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian.
5 449 submissions have been received from individual applicants and 137 came as collective ones. More than 50% of the artists are younger than 30 years old, and the proportion between male and female artists is almost equal.
