New Paintings by Christian Schmidt-Rasmussen
Grace Marie Roy Hess
Throughout the last several years, Christian Schmidt-Rasmussen has based his work on his immediate surroundings, a post-industrial, suburban area of Copenhagen, and those who inhabit it. With a keen eye for the inherent surreal and humorous qualities of the landscape and the people, Schmidt-Rasmussen presents a view that oscillates between the mundane and the poetic. Schmidt-Rasmussen transforms this otherwise bleak situation into a place of imagination by subtly combining realist elements with more expressive figures, creating a world full of potential life.
