Wynn's Contribution to Art Macao

Macau (MNA) – Art Macao, a six-month long international art festival organised with the six gaming operators (Galaxy, Wynn, Melco, SJM Holdings, Sands China and MGM) commences on June 6, featuring a budget of MOP34.6 million (US$4.28 million).
From the total budget, MOP3 million is borne by each gaming operator while the Macau SAR Government will provide MOP16.6 million.
Wynn Palace is hosting an exhibition titled ‘Wynn- Garden of Earthly Delights’, which will run for four months and is inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s masterpiece of the same name.
Curated by Chip Tom, a Los Angeles based curator for Heather James Fine Art, the exhibition features seven pieces from international artists.
The largest sculpture, ‘Dragon’s Footprint,’ is a whimsical work depicting footprints of the mythical creature located in the pond of Wynn Palace and has been designed by MAD Architects, and credited to Ma Yansong who is the first Chinese architect to win an overseas landmark-building award.
The other pieces are located within Wynn Palace, with two installations, namely Melting Memories and Macau Currents – Data Paintings which was made especially for the exhibition by Turkish artist Refik Anadol.
According to a guide, the Macau Currents: Data Paintings piece is meant to imitate the movement of ocean currents.
In the second room there are five sculptures displayed by Herb Alpert, an artist who is also a Grammy award winning musician, who formed the art sculptures inspired by his own piece of award-winning music ‘Putting on the Ritz.’
The five sculptures in Spirit Totems have been installed permanently at Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History.

The third room features four paintings from the late Sam Francis, who was one of the first post-World War 2 painters to develop an international reputation.
The four paintings feature a harmonization of colour on a white canvas done in the style Abstract Expressionism, with the use of negative space inspired by Japanese culture.
Sacral by Edoardo Tresoli
The fourth room features a wire sculpture by Edoardo Tresoli, titled ‘Sacral’, which features a sculpture inspired by the architecture of the Renaissance and with reference made to classical architectural elements.
In the fifth room, is the multimedia installation Silence Dogood [displayed in the featured image of the article] by Jennifer Steinkamp, who was inspired by the process of forming static electricity within a cloud.
In an attempt to fuse technology and art, Ms. Steinkamp has made a multimedia installation depicting the process as well as producing imagery that are inspired by the four seasons.
‘Wynn – The Garden of Eartly Delights’ will run at Wynn Palace from June 6 to October 6.
