Punctuating the city: blps have arrived in Los Angeles and Las Vegas
From Venice to Los Feliz, Los Angeles has been marked with Richard Artschwager’s blps! In conjunction with The Hammer Museum, LAND’s Director and Curator, Shamim M. Momin, selected unique sites throughout Los Angeles to place blps (38 to be exact!). From iconic landmarks such as Los Angeles Union Station and the Santa Monica Pier to popular restaurants such as Barney’s Beanery and Fatburger West Hollywood, we chose sites along some of LA’s most frequented thoroughfares to draw attention to the spaces and places often overlooked in our everyday lives and commutes. Santa Monica Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Silverlake Boulevard, Ocean Front Walk – all are dotted with blps, guiding you on a city-wide art scavenger hunt. blps have also been installed at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and they have even created custom temporary tattoos so you can wear an Artschwager blp!
To assist in your search for the blps, we created a map to help you navigate through the city, and select blp sites will have www.blp.la cards to point curious viewers to the blp website.
