Percezione e Illusione. Arte Programmata e cinetica italiana
Percezione e Illusione. Arte Programmata e cinetica italiana.
October 10th - December 8th
After the celebration of the first anniversary of the opening of MACBA -Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires in September, the exhibition Percezione e Illusione: Arte Programmata e cinetica italiana—the first international temporary exhibition to be held at the museum—joins the list of accomplishments over the course of 2013.
The project is based on the exhibition of Programmed and Kinetic Art that took place at the Galleria Nazionale d´Arte Moderna in Rome in 2012, and—to a greater extent—on MACBA’s interest in communicating the contribution that Italian artists have made to art from around the world.
The exhibition includes some sixty works (paintings, collages, and objects) from private collections in Italy. The list of artists featured includes Bruno Munari—a crucial figure in works that address perception, Concrete and Kinetic art, design and education—and representatives of the Argentine scene active, individually or collectively, from the 1950 to 1980—artists like Biasi, Alviani, Morandini, Costa, Dadamaino, Landi, Apollonio, and others. The exhibition also includes clothing designed by Fausto Sarli akin to the aesthetic concerns of the period.
MACBA’s special interest in Italian Op and Kinetic Art is reflected in the fact that the museum’s holdings include ten artists featured in this exhibition. The catalogue published on the occasion of this event contains reproductions of the works by those artists that form part of our collection.
