IMMATERIAL: The Fair's Performance Program Celebrates its Third Edition!

Central to Material’s public program is IMMATERIAL, a dedicated series of performance-based works curated by Michelangelo Miccolis, which will celebrate its third edition: February 7th-10th, 2019. Past editions have included works by acclaimed artists like Maria Hassabi, Mårten Spångberg, Adriana Lara, Geoffrey Farmer, Dora Garcia, and Cally Spooner, among others.

For this year’s edition IMMATERIAL Vol. III spreads like a rumor or a virus, inviting its participants to cuestion and blur lines between reality and performance.

IMMATERIAL Vol. III will feature performances by artists: Dora García, Simon Asencio, Roman Ondák, Débora Delmar and Mette Edvardsen. With a special appearance by Cally Spooner.

The works for IMMATERIAL cross a range of performative strategies, directing themselves openly to the spectator while questioning the social and arquitectonic context of their presentation. Aspiring to renegotiate the typical conventions of spectatorship these works highlight the state of being of the immaterial object and the need for an alternative model of experiencing art as a response to it.
