For its 2017 edition, miart has created a new award entitled ‘Fidenza Village for Generations’, with the aim of enhancing the dialogue between the works of two artists from different generations and to create a comparison between historical experimentation, innovation and tradition, different ways of understanding the time and the contemporary. Values that distinguish Fidenza Village and define its essence, form a creative dialogue between the Village and its region, including the experiential value of shopping and the cultural offering.

The prize of €10,000 will be awarded by an international jury composed of:

• Björn Geldhof, Artistic and Strategic Director, YARAT Contemporary Art Space, Baku and Artistic Director, Pinchuk Art Centre, Kiev
• Stefan Kalmar, Director, Institute of Contemporary Arts, Londra
• Gianfranco Maraniello, Director, Mart – Museo Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto

“The Fidenza Village Award for Generations is a natural continuation of the support we at Value Retail have given for more than a decade to talent in the arts and its various expressions – from design to music, fashion and art,” says Desirée Bollier, Chair – Value Retail Management. “We are committed to supporting both the talent of tomorrow as well as the more established names and we are delighted to work with miart as partner in this endeavour.”

The valuable partnership with miart is indeed a milestone in the path of Fidenza Village to support creativity and develop the parallel between artists of different generations. Until 9 April, art will be the main attraction in Fidenza Village, thanks to the exhibition ‘Avantissimo’: in which five internationally renowned illustrators – Olimpia Zagnoli (Italy), Jun Cen (China/USA), Ale Giorgini (Italy), Gio Pastors (Italy), Roman Muradov (Russia) – have given their artwork to appear on a series of limited-edition bandana. Their designs are inspired by the dynamic and colourful creativity of artist Fortunato Depero, whose work is on display at the Fondazione Magnani Rocca, just a few steps away from Parma. In harmony with the spirit of the futuristic fashion posters, contemporary art goes well beyond the traditional picture frame and becomes the object of daily life, made with materials of our time, embodied in action, play and movement, to be worn and enjoyed.
