Augustus John was a leading Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painter in Europe, and American critics were eager for the opportunity to examine his work firsthand at the 1913 Armory Show. John was also a noted bohemian who traveled the English countryside with his wife, mistress, and children by both women: http://armory.nyhistory.org/augustus-john-a-true-bohemian/
