My Highlights from Art Basel in Miami Beach 2014
Within the scope of works available to view, I selected artists whom I think are relevant and interesting now.
My selection:
Richard Prince, Untitled, 2014, at Galerie 1900-2000
I love the witty simplicity of these new works by Prince.
Sam Moyer, Untitled, 2014, at Galerie Rodolphe Janssen
Sam Moyer is one of the most poetic artists to emerge in the last few years.
Ai Weiwei, Untitled (Wooden Ball), 2010, at Mary Boone Gallery
Ai Weiwei can make materials speak from across a room. I am often drawn to his objects.
Robert Longo, Untitled (Ferguson) Diptych, 2014, at Petzel Gallery
Longo’s craftsmanship together with his constant interrogation of what is around us all the time is a winning combination.
Trevor Paglen, NSA/GCHQ Surveillance Base, Bude, Cornwall, UK, 2014, at Metro Pictures
Paglen’s last show at Metro surely marked him as an artist on the rise.
John Baldessari, Morsels And Snippets: Dublin Bay Prawns With Curry Smoke, 2013, at Mai 36 Galerie
I’m always impressed with how Baldessari is forever inventive and bold.
