Sydney, Australia: Sydney Contemporary today announced more than 90 Australian and International galleries participating in the fifth edition of Australasia’s international art fair, to be presented at multi-disciplinary arts precinct Carriageworks from Thursday 12–Sunday 15 September 2019. Sydney Contemporary – Australasia’s largest and most diverse art fair – is an annual event, with the 2019 participating galleries hailing from five continents and showcasing over 450 artists from 34 countries.

Sydney Contemporary returns for its fifth edition following a record-breaking year in 2018, securing artwork sales of AU$21million and attracting thousands of collectors, curators and art enthusiasts. Sydney Contemporary facilitates the largest concentration of art sales in Australia annually with approximately AU$10million of total sales in 2018 returned directly to artists; an extraordinary boost to artists’ capacity to continue their practice and commercial galleries’ ability to support them.

In 2019, Sydney Contemporary will feature a strong line-up of international galleries from France, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. This year, Sydney Contemporary will feature a significant number of galleries from Japan including returning galleries Whitestone Gallery (Tokyo, Taipei, Nagano, Hong Kong), who will present work by renowned artist Yayoi Kusama, and COHJU Contemporary Art (Kyoto) alongside newcomers LOKO Gallery (Tokyo) and MA2 Gallery (Tokyo).
