My Selection:
Marc Quinn, Smothered by Desire, 2014, at Human Reproduction
Qin Feng, Angry Angels 10 憤怒的天使 10, 2011, at Galerie du Monde
Feng is a rising Chinese contemporary ink artist. He uses unconventional media, such as tea, in his paintings and creates large size, very intense works.
Nancy Chu Woo, Paddyfield, 2011, at Contemporary by Angela Li
Nancy Chu Woo is an established artist who has had many museum shows. The work is an abstraction that blends Chinese and Western techniques. I like her use of color.
Bosco Law, Exhibition #002, 2014, at The Cat Street Gallery
Law is a young artist from Hong Kong. He uses a very fine pen and the amount of detail is incredible.
Tamen, Flowers Not Flowers, Painting Not Painting, 2014, at Art+ Shanghai Gallery
Tamen is a team of two artists that produce large scale surrealistic paintings. This work is meticulously painted. The contrast between the Chinese painting within the painting and the landscape that the artist within the frame is seeing is mesmerizing.
Miguel Chevalier, Fractal Flowers, 2009, at Puerta Roja.
Nobuyoshi Araki, Erotos 2013 #02, 1993, at amanasalto
Araki is one of the most important contemporary photographers. This work has an erotic sensual quality and is a beautiful composition.
