About
Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition was formed in 1976 by a group of 16 artists looking simply to exhibit their work. These one day exhibits popped up everywhere from breweries to barges floating in the east river. In 1986 “BWAC” moved to its permanent home in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn. We are an all volunteer group of approximately 200 member artists that manage all aspects of a non profit 501-3c gallery. BWAC is dedicated to giving emerging and mid career artists space to exhibit their art. BWAC is also committed to supporting artists who would otherwise not have an opportunity to show their artwork such as the disabled, students and those facing economic hardship. Our membership as diverse as Brooklyn itself truly offers artwork for everybody.
