CW American Modernism is a Los Angeles-based private gallery specializing in 20th Century American art with a particular focus on the period between 1910 and 1960. We believe in the importance and relevance of this art and the people who created it to today’s world. In many important ways, the modern world was born during this period and the artists who lived and worked then began to grapple, as artists do, with many of the significant questions that are still with us now. Whether made by artists who are well-known or barely known, we look for works that are compelling and speak to the times and places where they were created and to the present.
