About
Since 1989, when he opened his first gallery , Jorge Alcolea combines its own portfolio of well-established artists with special attention on the young promises of Spanish painting in his two galleries in Madrid and Barcelona.
The surname Alcolea has been linked to art since 1973, when Alfonso Alcolea and Teresa Albero opened the Sala Nonell in Barcelona. Dedicated to modern art, they showed the work of Grau Sala, Picasso, Juan Gris, or Ramón Casas from New York to Buenos Aires, cities where the gallery had headquarters.
In 1989 his son Jorge Alcolea decided to expand the family legacy by opening a contemporary art gallery in Madrid, where he exhibited the work of emerging artist, many of whom currently enjoy national and international recognition. Nowadays, Jorge Alcolea coordinates the galleries in Madrid and Barcelona (now under the name Jorge Alcolea - Sala Nonell) and combines his commitment to contemporary painting with the preservation of modern art, more linked to the family tradition.
