About
Jean-Luc and Takako Richard started their gallery in 1989 in Paris. In 2011, Galerie Richard opened a second gallery in New York City from 2011 to 2021. The gallery distinctively supports painting in the digital age.
Since 1989 Galerie Richard has exhibited young American, Japanese, European artists in Paris and they have focused more on painters who absorbed the aesthetics of digital technologies. They also presented established artists such as Bram Bogart, Ron Gorchov, Judy Pfaff, Alain Kirili, Frank Stella, Shirley Kaneda. In 2011 they opened a second gallery in Chelsea and introduced Takesada Matsutani in the USA and presented Kiyoshi Nakagami and Norio Imai. In 2015, the gallery sold a major work by Matsutani to the Centre Georges Pompidou. The gallery moved from Chelsea to the Lower East Side in the same year.
