About
Established in 1939, KOMIYAMA TOKYO has been introducing Japan's post-war pop/subculture spans to fine art, photography, fashion, to graphics. More than exploring tremendous collection, we represent artists with groundbreaking spirit from pop to avant-garde art in Japan.
KOMIYAMA TOKYO is established in 1939 as the vintage bookstore in Jimbocho, Tokyo, introducing Japan's post-war pop/subculture spans to fine art, photography, fashion, to graphics. More than exploring tremendous collection, the most notable being Tadanori Yokoo and Yukio Mishima, we’ve been presenting new artists since 00’s. The regular exhibitions at the commercial gallery of 180㎡ in Kanda, Tokyo, represents artist’s groundbreaking spirit living up to their unique backgrounds, mash-up of all influences from pop art, avant-garde comic art to surreal sculpture. With the insight based on the long-standing career, our gallery aims to bridge out the cultural blank of diversity.
