The Why Not Gallery is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to supporting and presenting young, cutting edge artists working in a variety of materials, methods and themes, dedicated at rebranding Post-Soviet Georgia.The gallery also operates a gift shop.
The Why Not Gallery was founded in 2017 by two friends, artist Gvantsa Jishkariani and curator Ellen Kapanadze.
The first edition of The Why Not Gallery occupied a vitrine in the Tbilisi city centre underground passageway, as an attempt to strip art of its elitist connotations and turn thousands of passers by into involuntary exhibition goers.
In 2020 the gallery expanded into its first permanent space and grew into presenting a generation of exciting artists from Georgia, working in a variety of materials, methods and themes, dedicated at rebranding Post-Soviet Georgia.
The gallery also operates a gift shop, where it collaborates with Georgian artists and produces more affordable limited edition items.
