Minas¹ is not a mountainous word

Manfredo de Souzanetto was born in Jacinto, near the Jequitinhonha River, in the northeast of Minas Gerais, the mountainous state where his practice also originated. Since then, his work has dealt with visuality and the very matter of Minas Gerais' landscapes, with the artist himself reiterating the importance of place in his work at the end of the 1970s (when he had already begun to experiment with geometry more emphatically in his investigations).
