A year in review
The end of the year is fast approaching, and it's time to look back at the talented artists we had the pleasure to work with in this long 2024. Here's our year in review
We began the year with the group show Texas Tornados, that brought to Milan the iconic culture of Texas through artists such as Bruce Lee Webb, with his works evoking American folkloric traditions, Sophie Roach, known for her dynamic weavings of color and form. Esther Pearl Watson explored intimate stories and imaginary landscapes related to her childhood, while Adam Young and Tom Russell enriched the exhibition with a strongly narrative style, creating a visual universe deeply rooted in the land.
With his fourth solo exhibition at Antonio Colombo Gallery, entitled Springs to Come, Ryan Heshka immersed the audience in a visionary world, where retro-futuristic and surrealist elements come together to tell stories of masked pin-ups, fearsome femmes fatales, in a wild and crazy world.
An important moment of the year has been the group show Pittori d'Italia. Participants included 108, Nicola Caredda, El Gato Chimney, Jacopo Ginanneschi, Agnese Guido, Dario Maglionico, Fulvia Mendini, Riccardo Nannini, Silvia Negrini, Silvia Paci and Paolo Pibi, with his playful and ironic approach, enriched by bright colors and surreal motifs.
With her first solo show in Italy, Landscape's Body, Iryna Maksymova offered a reflection on the changes undergone by the Ukrainian territory at a time of strong armed conflict.
In the exhibition Alchimie nel Vuoto, Elena Salmistraro explores the boundaries between design and art, creating a highly symbolic visual language to exorcise her fears by familiarizing herself with the monsters that frightened her as a child.
The exhibition Myths and Fables, presented artworks by Daphne Christoforou who, with a strong symbolism, explored mythological storytelling through a language that combines tradition and contemporaneity, offering a contemporary reinterpretation of classic myths. Alongside her, Lusesita captivated with dreamlike and textural sculptures, in which ceramics is transformed into an expressive form capable of telling modern fairy tales., conveying both fragility and power.
Last but not least, Santi e Briganti, the last project made by Matteo Guarnaccia while he was still alive. A psychedelic artist and established costume critic, Guarnaccia has created portraits of more than 100 iconic personalities from music, literature and culture more generally, with an ironic approach charged with symbolism.
