Emily Furr (b. 1978, St. Louis, MO) is a New York-based visual artist who received her MFA from Hunter College, NY in 2018. She has exhibited with Sargent's Daughters (New York, NY); Rebecca Camacho Presents (San Francisco, CA); Office Baroque (Antwerp, BE:; Galerie Hussenot, (Paris, FR); among others. In February of 2021, Furr opened her first museum solo exhibition at the SCAD Museum (Savannah, GA), curated by Ariella Wolens, assistant curator of SCAD exhibitions. Furr’s work has recently been acquired by the Orange County Museum of Art (Orange County, CA). Her work was featured on the cover 25th Anniversary Edition of New American Paintings and has been favorably reviewed in The New York Times, Artforum, Artnet, Hyperallergic, Burnaway, and Time Out New York.

Moon Chute engages with themes of imperial structures, industrialism, and transformation. In pairing mechanical objects with celestial elements, Furr demonstrates the incongruence between material, capitalist progress and nature. Depicting a moon rolling down an industrial chute, like a factory item along a conveyor belt, Furr transmutes the cosmos through productive structures to illuminate the frivolity of hyperconsumption and excess in our material world. The artist has hand-embellished the edition with metallic details and glowing auras, making each piece a unique work.

To support ART FOR CHANGE's global reforestation efforts, ten trees will be planted for each print sale. As with all of our initiatives, the artist will receive 50% of net proceeds from each sale.

Xiao Wang is a Chinese painter based in Brooklyn, NY. Wang received his BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Glasgow School of Art (Scotland, UK) and an MFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute. A figurative painter known for deep, iridescent, moody color palettes, his compositions marry classical figuration and techniques with a markedly contemporary use of layering and shadows. Engaging with social and personal themes, the artist collages abstracted figures against flat layers of realist natural forms in sharp, contrasting colors. Wang’s work has been featured in a number of publications including Artnet, Juxtapoz Magazine, and New American Paintings. Recent exhibitions include Liminal Blue at Deanna Evans Project (New York, NY); What Now? At PM/AM (London, UK); and Mixed Feelings at F2T Gallery (Milan, IT).

Ghost/Fire depicts a bouquet in a ceramic vase bursting into flames, lit by the light emanating from a lunar eclipse and a pink glow rising from below the horizon. Wang delineates the relationship between the subject and viewer through first person perspective, our arms reaching out across the table toward the vase. This work was inspired by the impact of family stories on one’s psyche, where shared histories and internalized darkness can reduce even the most beautiful and lively to dust. The artist has hand-embellished each work in the edition with acrylic glazes and gloss to make flowers more vibrant along with additional leaves and buds, making each piece a unique work.

ART FOR CHANGE will donate a portion of proceeds from each print sold to Project Healthy Mind in support of the organization’s initiatives to provide mental health care and services to our most vulnerable communities. As in all series, artists will receive 50% of the net proceeds of print sales.

Amy Lincoln is a New York-based artist who paints dream-like scenes of imagined landscapes, atmospheric activity, and vibrant fantastical foliage. She completed her MFA in Painting at Temple University, Tyler School of Art in 2006, and her BA in Studio Art at University of California, Davis in 2003. Lincoln’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Taymour Grahne Projects, London; Morgan Lehman Gallery, New York; and Monya Rowe Gallery, Saint Augustine; among others. Additionally, it has been featured in group exhibitions at New York venues such as Sargent’s Daughters, Regina Rex, and Thierry Goldberg, as well as at others around the world. The artist has also been awarded with residencies by Wave Hill, Bronx; Inside Out Art Museum, Beijing; and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York.

Trees and Moon Rays (Blue, Cyan and Magenta) is a graphic rendition of the titular objects, with radiant light beaming towards the leaves and tree trunks that spread across a horizonless landscape. Gradient tones of blues, purples, and pinks denote the contrast between light and shadow, forming a dynamic image that feels simultaneously figurative and abstract. The work derives from Lincoln’s recent foray into Photoshop, which is used to design images that line up with her painting practice. During the creative process of Sun and Trees, the artist decided to shift the hues, in her own words, “from a sunny daytime scene to a more otherworldly, moonlit night scene.” For this edition, she will additionally hand-embellish each print by adding various new details.

Of this benefit series, she notes, “I love being outdoors. Whether by the water or in a green space, there’s something rejuvenating about being connected to nature. Access to nature is a birthright, and I think it's beautiful that the Prospect Park Alliance is revitalizing woodland and green areas for the public to enjoy."

New York-based artist Maggie Ellis (b. 1991, Atlanta, Georgia) is a painter of surreal memories, laughter and life. Her work is born of the fleeting, humorous moments of voyeurism she witnesses throughout New York City and informed by her upbringing in the rural South. A rebellion against tradition and expectation, Ellis weaves the uncanny and taboo through the mundanity of daily life. She received her BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2014, and her MFA from Hunter College in 2017. In the same year, she also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Recent exhibitions include: Through a Glass Darkly, Carl Kostyal, Milan, and Strange Strangers at Charles Moffett, New York.

Maggie Ellis’ Cold Couple was inspired by the eccentricities of mid-winter, outdoor dining scenarios in the post-lockdown city. Blue figures seated in supportive embrace huddle around a precarious cafe table sharing a latte. They look up and out of the canvas, gazing through the viewer with a wide, longing stare for disparate desires. The man’s comical legs stretch out beyond the table, his burgundy pants riding up and cutting off above the ankle. The flimsy table rattles beneath his knees, vibrating with her chills in rhythm with the waves in the tepid cup. An analogue to the frailty of some pandemic pods, any impending spills pale in comparison to what we can imagine lies beyond this moment.

“As this country moves backwards, we have an urgent need to protect women,” says Ellis on the collaboration. “Having the right to abortion access means having control over your own body. In light of the recent Supreme Court ruling, it’s more important now than ever to support initiatives like Planned Parenthood Greater New York, which provide abortion access, birth control, health services, and support to women.”

ART FOR CHANGE will donate a portion of proceeds to Planned Parenthood Greater New York in support of the fight for reproductive justice across the country. As in all series, artists will receive 50% of net proceeds from print sales.

Xiao Wang combines dramatic, moody color palettes with a realist approach in figurative paintings that draw visual and conceptual inspiration from Romanticism, the Symbolist movement, and magical realism. Born in China and based in Brooklyn, he received a BFA from the Glasgow School of Art, and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. The artist has shown work internationally, in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy. Wang has also completed artist residencies at MASS MoCA, the Vermont Studio Center, Root Division, and Art Point.

Slumber Under A Shade is part of a recent series that loosely references The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters, a satirical etching which expressed Francisco Goya’s concerns over the political atmosphere of his time. Wang’s work channels a similar feeling of anxiety, in a current era riddled by tension arising from rapid social and cultural shifts, environmental crises, and ideological uncertainties. In this painting, a hand arches over a male character’s head, beneath cascading leaves from a ginkgo tree as the halo of an eclipsed moon charges the scene with a mysterious, uncanny feeling. Each print in this series is unique with additional hand-embellished foliage added by the artist using acrylic paints.

Of his motivation behind this edition, Wang notes, “Growing up in China, home cooking and food sharing have always been essential parts of my life and my community. I believe that having access to safe and healthy food directly impacts the overall well-being of a community. City Harvest works towards building a healthy future for all New Yorkers, and I am proud to contribute to their mission."

Of the total net proceeds from sales of this print, 20% will benefit City Harvest and, as with all AFC initiatives, the artist receives 50%.

Olivier Souffrant (b.1994, Port-au-Prince, Haiti) is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist whose painting practice presents an amalgamation of styles and stories conveyed in an ecstatic melange of earthen textures and cultural materials. The artist attended the University of Illinois and his work has been featured in a number of publications including Artnet, Artsy, Oxford American, and 360 Magazine.

Reclining Nude is a new hand-embellished limited edition print on poplin inspired by digital media and cultural ephemera in the artist’s signature style. The artist blends recurring art historical motifs and explores the depth of historical styles toward redolent and incisively fresh ends. Looking to Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres’ Odalisque with Slave, Souffrant’s odalisque is silhouetted with a vibrant urban landscape with activity beaming from the windows against the starry night. Signature motifs like tropical leaves, sketchy strokes and scribbles and blocks of flat washes scatter the rhythmic composition—coming together in a cohesive visual narrative. The artist has hand-embellished each print in the edition with different colorways of vases and new details in the windows, making each print a unique work.

“Having lived through the earthquakes in Haiti I am glad to be working with ART FOR CHANGE in supporting the International Rescue Committee's efforts in Syria and Turkey.” shared Souffrant on the collaboration. “It is part of my character to volunteer my time and resources when I can and I’m proud to know that my work can impact such critical efforts.”

ART FOR CHANGE will donate a portion of proceeds to the International Rescue Committee in support of humanitarian aid in the wake of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. As in all series, the artist will receive 50% of the net proceeds of print sales.

Carlos Rodriguez’s practice—spanning paintings, drawings and ceramics—explores the male body, issues of gender and identity, and sexual desire as a creative impulse. The Mexico City-based artist is inspired by classical painting and primitive art, and feels a special connection with self-taught artists such as Henri Rousseau and Hector Hyppolite. Populated with references to mythology, science, poetry and themes related to body positivity, his playful works often depict scenes of men engaged in various games and fantasies.

The second of Rodriguez’s collaborations with ART FOR CHANGE, Garras Protectoras, represents the instincts of protection and companionship. Within the work, a bear’s body provides a cave-like shelter to a male character, alluding to early Paleolithic cultures wherein mankind worshipped animals as magical spirits. The duo eschew violence and conflict, and surrender their defenses in a harmonious embrace. For this series, Rodriguez has additionally hand embellished a number of editions with new details such as the bear’s fur and stars illuminating the nighttime sky.

Of this series, Rodriguez notes, “I strongly believe in helping each other, especially in these times. If you are in the position to genuinely help others, or if you can generate actions that benefit your community and inspire others, go ahead. It is vital.”

Of the total net proceeds from sales of this print, 20% will benefit City Harvest and, as with all AFC initiatives, the artist receives 50%.

Roslyn-born, St. Louis-based artist Marisa Adesman produces surreal and thought-provoking paintings of everyday objects in unexpected contexts and striking states of mystical transformation. Adesman holds her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and her BFA from Washington University, St. Louis. Upcoming and recent exhibitions include a solo exhibition at KMAC Museum (Louisville, KY); a solo presentation at FRIEZE Seoul; Folklore at Anat Ebgi Gallery (Los Angeles, CA); and A Few Small Nips at Mrs. Gallery (Maspeth, NY). The artist’s work has been featured in numerous publications including The Art Newspaper, The Boston Globe, and Juxtapoz Magazine among others.

Shadow of a Doubt is a quintessential example of the artist’s most recent works—where the contents of the silverware drawer come to life and animate dramatic domestic scenes. The artist integrates Enlightenment period themes–where magic and skepticism battled materiality and reason–and evergreen existential questions with contemporary social concerns in a rich, cool toned, classical still life. Featuring a prominent nod to Joseph Wright Derby’s painting An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump (1768) in the mosaic behind the blue curtain, Adesman’s delicate formalism imbues the quiet scene with a palpable ephemerality. Light details, such as the wisping smoke, curled edges of the rose petals drying on the table, or translucent folds in the soft cloth against the shining mahogany table draws viewers into the fantasy and challenge our perceptions of reality. The artist has hand-embellished a portion of the edition with her own clues to the answers of such mysteries throughout the painting in gouache and colored pencil, making each print a unique work.
“I firmly believe in Project Healthy Mind’s mission to erase the stigma surrounding mental health and to facilitate open conversations about the challenges our society faces today,” shared Adesman regarding the collaboration. “Having good mental health is essential for living a happy and fulfilling life, and having a creative practice is just one part of the healing journey. Practicing creativity not only enriches and deepens our relationship to ourselves, but allows us to be more empathetic and caring individuals.”

ART FOR CHANGE will donate a portion of proceeds from each print sold to Project Healthy Mind in support of the organization’s initiatives to provide mental health care and services to our most vulnerable communities. As in all series, artists will receive 50% of the net proceeds of print sales.

Caris Reid explores and creates symbolic spaces which mediate between the mystical and mundane. Her graphic language rendered in bold, saturated hues through thin layers of acrylic simplified shapes and forms create an atmosphere both familiar and uncanny.

Hunter’s Moon, inspired by the October full moon commonly associated with preparation for winter, engages with numerous motifs that often appear in Reid’s work; cats, the full moon, and snake. The white moon illuminates the sky into a cyan wash that echoes harmoniously throughout the painting—the lines shaping the cat or the cornflower blue of the snake. The green eyes contrast from the cat’s stark form, symbolizing hunter-life instincts used to overcome challenges. Each print is hand-embellished with rhythmic patterns in the ground and other playful details to complement the variety of colorways, making each piece a unique work.

In honor of Earth Month, ten trees will be planted for each print sale of works in this series commissioned on the occasion of EXPO CHICAGO 2022. The artist will also receive 50% of net proceeds from each sale.

Laura Berger is a Chicago-based artist exploring interdependence and self-understanding through emotive, surrealist figurative compositions. Utilizing intuitive color palettes and minimalist environments, the artist explores the senses, memories and experiences that float between the spiritual, emotional and physical planes. Recent exhibitions include Tomorrow is Tomorrow is Tomorrow at Kristin Hjelledjerde (London UK); The Bioelectric Self at The Pit (Los Angeles, CA); Power of Femininity at Kutlesa (Goldau, CH); After Midnight at Rule Gallery (Denver, CO); Flight Path at Hashimoto Contemporary (New York, NY); and Soft Bound at Eve Leibe (London, UK) among many others. In 2021 the artist was awarded The Hopper Prize and her work has been featured in Hi-Fructose Magazine, Juxtapoz Magazine and New American Paintings.

The Meeting is a serene composition of three figures, ensconced in one anothers physical and emotional worlds—crossing auras and time under the light of the moon. Using transparent washes, each of the figures melt into and emerge from one another, connected through touch and abstracting disconnection between the self and others. A waking spirit rises from the bodies at rest, opening to a land of dreams. A viewer’s canvas—The Meeting rejects definition and opens itself up like the arms of a long lost friend or a personal myth that grabs hold between sleeping and waking. The artist has hand-embellished the edition with additional light and transparencies throughout the compositions, making each a unique work.

“Reforestation is a critical effort and i’m so glad that my first ART FOR CHANGE print can help to support an initiative so close to my heart.” shared Berger on the collaboration. “The initial painting came in fall of 2022 and it’s been great to bring new life into the space for this edition.
