Du rêve à l’inéluctable (From Dreams to the Inevitable) is the second series of Divine Nudes unveiled by Ronald Martinez, following the Hommage à la peinture italienne (Homage to Italian Painting) series. While retaining the characteristics of the first series, in this one the French photographer offers more intimate settings, in which the characters are plunged into contemplative reveries or are overwhelmed by their feelings when faced with the inescapable: death
Ronald Martinez’s artistic nude and still life photographs are born of a personal reinterpretation of the sacred, symbolic and profane themes of Renaissance painting. Through in-depth research into chiaroscuro, the artist enhances the subjects of his photographs, who are sculpted and caressed by a light that is both subtle and theatrical.
photograph by the French artist Ronald Martinez from the series Homage to Italian Painting. Hommage à la peinture italienne (Homage to Italian Painting) is Ronald Martinez’s first series, created in 2012, inspired by the pictorial innovations of the great masters of the Renaissance: Caravaggio, Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Veronese and Mantegna. For the photographer, reinterpreting their paintings through his own personal vision is a mission, almost a need. These photographs create a surprising dialogue between past and present, blurring the boundaries between painting and photography.

Divine Nude No.32 is a photograph by the French artist Ronald Martinez from the series Revelation. This photograph shows a woman holding a mirror, an object that suggests the vanity of appearances. Thanks to the mirror, the observer can see the expression of fear or despair on the figure’s face, reminiscent of the two famous Medusa paintings (1597 – 1598) by the Italian painter Caravaggio.
