This solo exhibition will run from November 14 to December 2, 2024, offering an in-depth exploration of Colomina's vibrant canvases, where emotion and color take center stage.
About
Born in 1953 in Alcoy, Spain, Jorge Colomina's life and work have been shaped by his experiences as a migrant and self-taught artist. Growing up in the politically charged climate of Francoist Spain, Colomina moved to France with his family, where he discovered the transformative power of art in the museums and galleries of Paris. Inspired by Picasso, Miro, Cézanne, and Matisse, he dedicated himself to painting, ultimately choosing the French Riviera as his creative haven.

Abstract Figurative Style and Mediterranean Inspiration
Settling in Antibes, he developed a unique style he describes as "Abstract Figurative"—a fusion of recognizable forms and bold abstraction, where vibrant colors animate stylized figures and objects. His works draw heavily on Cubist and Surrealist traditions while bringing in Matisse's influence through the use of powerful color contrasts. The light of the French Riviera infuses his canvases with a bright, energizing palette of reds, blues, and yellows.

A Deeply Modern Artist with a Timeless Appeal
Colomina's art centers on the expressive potential of color, which he uses not only to structure space but also to convey a wide spectrum of emotions. His compositions evoke sensations of harmony and tension, where shapes and tones interact in dynamic and unexpected ways. Colomina's works transcend conventional form, inviting viewers to engage intuitively and allowing room for personal interpretation.
