The Art of Joseph Gilgun

The inspiration for this piece was as follows; Night-time in the northern quarter. The crowd’s unimpressed with the use of red and black paint, as it’s colours they’ve all seen before. - Joe Gilgun
The inspiration for this piece was as follows; We all have an inner child, mine’s sick of the city and wants to go home. - Joe Gilgun
The inspiration for this piece was as follows I was out and about to pick up some paint, as I passed a group of people, they began to laugh. I felt pretty sure it was at me. I’m represented in red with the cross over my mouth. There was no one to talk to, so the event was stuck in my head for days. 'Joe Gilgun'
With a mixture of street, abstract and fine art influences, most of his work is created using a blend of acrylic, spray paint and charcoal. However, he doesn’t limit himself, sometimes it’s a case of using whatever’s at hand; a splash of tea, a mouthful of spit, on occasion he doesn’t even use a canvas. The inspiration for this piece was as follows: "I don’t know many actors who enjoy doing a read through. I struggle to read, and I find it fucking terrifying." - Joe Gilgun

Joe works meticulously to create his own fabric by weaving the linen together. Sewing each square piece of material, he builds on layers before painting his magnificent figurative art. The inspiration for this piece was as follows: "Being in a good mood can make people think you need your ego clipping." - Joseph Gilgun.

This artwork is framed. Presented in a large black block wooden frame. The inspiration for this piece was as follows: "I remember very little about the inspiration for this piece. However, I do recall having a minor meltdown after a work-related argument. Which, no doubt, was probably my fault. I often lash out at the things that I care about the most. I tore this canvas in two places in frustration (that being said, not a problem if you want it stitched up)" ~ Joe Gilgun
