Goma Art Gallery proudly presents “Passarola, Duodécima & Geo-organic,” an exhibition that showcases the remarkable talents of Toba, Roberto Batista, and Medín Martín, merging the organic with the geometric in a mesmerizing artistic dialogue.
Toba invites us into his “Duodécima” series, where graphic and chromatic elements converge to transform nature into its highest artistic expression. His work breathes life into fruits, plants, and flowers—both native and exotic—crafting compositions that skillfully play with light and the rule of thirds. The result is a visual experience that evokes a profound sense of serenity and introspection, inviting viewers to pause and reflect. Roberto Batista, in contrast, captivates with his “Passarola” series, where color and form take center stage in a visual narrative that boldly transcends the traditional boundaries of painting. His pieces guide the viewer on an introspective journey, infused with a subtle irony and humor that challenge conventional perceptions. Lastly, Medín Martín, through his “Geo-organic” series, demonstrates the transformative power of sculpture. Working with wood and various other materials, Martín explores the intricate relationship between the natural and the structural, crafting sculptures that elegantly blur the line between the organic and the artificial. “Passarola, Duodécima & Geo-organic” is more than just an exhibition; it is a celebration of artistic innovation, where nature, geometry, and art converge in a harmonious and thought-provoking interplay. We invite you to join us at Goma Art Gallery to experience these works that defy convention and elevate the spirit, offering a fresh perspective on the world around us.
MEDÍN MARTÍN - FROM ORGANIC TO GEOMETRIC I
The sculptures in this exhibition represent a journey through the last fifteen years of my work, focused on reflecting on changing reality and the human experience. My goal is to create innovative forms that offer new perspectives on a world in constant transformation.
Medín Martín presents his work “Ninfa Expuesta” at the GoMA gallery.
MEDÍN MARTÍN - FROM ORGANIC TO GEOMETRIC II
Rafael Arozarena describes my work as the task of “coining nothingness to leave a material imprint of the dream”, which highlights the importance of dialoguing with dreams and human feelings. María Eugenia Padrón points out that my pieces, as a metaphor, reflect human evolution and the transience of existence, transforming into new forms of life.

MEDÍN MARTÍN - FROM ORGANIC TO GEOMETRIC III
My work blends organic and geometric elements, drawing on historical cultures or sparking the imagination. I primarily use wood, often paired with metals and bronze casting, incorporating patinas and vibrant colors. My sculptures feature diverse textures and shapes—spherical, oval, square, and elongated—merging organic and geometric forms into a cohesive whole. They embody a concept of unity, countering solitude and emphasizing integration and connection between forms and emotions.

ROBERTO BATISTA - PASSAROLA SERIES I
This text describes the author's deep appreciation for the Portuguese writer José Saramago and his reflections on Lanzarote, which he discovered thirty years ago. The author expresses how reading Saramago's works has helped to give coherence and clarity to his own thoughts and ideas. Saramago's writings touch on concepts and concerns about the world and the human condition, which have always been a part of the author's artistic journey.
Roberto Batista presents his work “Certeza” to his guests.
ROBERTO BATISTA - PASSAROLA SERIES II
The author finds Saramago's works to be a guiding light in the search for something new and meaningful in a world dominated by confrontation, ambiguity, and darkness. The author emphasizes the importance of detaching ourselves from the confusing reality and contemplating it with perspective to understand the uncertainties we face.
Roberto explains the story behind his paintings to the guests.
ROBERTO BATISTA - PASSAROLA SERIES III
The mention of Bartolomeu Lourenço de Gusmão's flying machine, the passarola, and its connection to Saramago's novel "Memorial del convento" symbolizes the need to soar above and gain insight into the complex and economically-driven world.

ROBERTO BATISTA - PASSAROLA SERIES IV
The author's interest in Saramago's work lies in its philosophical and reflective nature, and the selected texts in the art project "Passarola" are drawn from various Saramago novels, providing a narrative without characters that reflects the writer's contemplations.

TOBA - DUODECIMA I
As a series proposal, the intention has been to play with graphic, chromatic and compositional elements where their reiteration is the constant. The components, in the concept of form, are natural; fruits, plants or flowers, some endemic, others not. In the format, the average length as a horizontal measure prevails over the width or, in this case, the height as a vertical measure.

TOBA - DUODECIMA II
The predominant colors are more focused on the background of the work; cold and warm or vice versa, both from left to right and vice versa, cobalt and cadmium dominate the second plane, where the insistence of the series is the result.

TOBA - DUODECIMA III
The light depends on the left or right angle, as much as the element that can represent more importance in the work, and this can be in the framework of the theory of the three thirds, composition that is repeated in the measure of the length.

TOBA - DUODECIMA IV
The intention of the group of paintings is to generate the sensation of serenity reinforced by nature itself as a graphic product. The titles refer to a simple play on words in English where the most elementary translation leads us to the Spanish language with certain tinges of irony and humor, a smile always adds up.
