Marta Cypel (b. 1990, Milan, Italy) is a ceramic artist based in Lisbon, blending the natural world with contemporary design. Drawing inspiration from geological transformation, erosion, and organic textures, her work connects nature and ancient ceramic traditions. Cypel’s pieces reflect fragility, resilience, and the passage of time, created through a process that merges craftsmanship with natural beauty.
"I owe a lot to these hands of mine, they make me feel so alive they are fearless, they are my tools, my instruments, my companions."
Marta Cypel's sculptures are unique creations that blend contemporary ceramics with the spirit of traditional craftsmanship. Handcrafted in her Lisbon studio, each piece bears the artist's distinctive signature, her initials "MCO". Cypel’s approach is rooted in a continuous exploration of organic textures and natural forms, resulting in sculptural works that embody both the strength and fragility of nature.
Her creations, regularly presented in galleries and international events, captivate with their simplicity and evocative power. The artist masterfully weaves a subtle connection between ancient techniques and contemporary concerns, creating sculptures that speak of transformation, endurance, and the very essence of the earth. Each piece invites the viewer to reflect on the impermanence and inherent beauty of the natural world.

The Story Behind the Artwork
The Lacrima Vessel is a stunning exploration of form and texture, where Marta Cypel’s mastery of ceramics comes to life. Inspired by natural erosion and the passage of time. The vessel’s organic shape, with its subtle curves and layered textures, evokes a sense of transformation, much like the slow yet constant processes found in the earth’s geological formations.
