The Director at JC Gallery selects his favourite works available this December.

This year has been a strong one for modernism across the board - especially American modernism with some strong sales at auctions and on Artsy. JC Gallery has grown its reputation as one of the leading dealers of American modernism across the globe. We have seen trends of works selling with renewed interest in Arthur Dove, John Marin and Edward Hopper. We held the first solo exhibition of Arthur Dove outside of the US, which we were particularly proud of; as well as an exhibition focussing on Walkowitz's abstract works of the early 20th Century including cityscapes - this show performed particularly strongly whilst Frieze was taking place in London. Finishing the year with our only contemporary show of the year with NZ born emerging artist CW Landon has been a superb way to round off the year, especially as one his works available was picked by Artsy's curators as a hot pick.
