To celebrate the Shanghai Art Fair, Artin Space proudly presents a new online exhibition, featuring 9 Chinese Contemporary Artists deeply related to Shanghai: Li Shan, Ding Yi, Chen Zhen, Li Lei, Shen Fan, Qin Yifeng, Xia Yang, Xue Song, and Zheng Zaidong.

Shanghai, an international metropolis nestled at the mouth of the Yangtze River, has long served as a vital bridge between Eastern and Western cultures since its opening as a port in the modern era. From the gentle, winding river currents to the vast, surging ocean waves, this city has forever thrived amidst tides of change and fusion. Its inclusive, open spirit has fostered both the evolution of traditional Chinese painting and the rise of Western-style art, making Shanghai not only the birthplace of the Haipai (Shanghai School) art movement but also a hub for modern painting. For over a century, countless artists have found inspiration here, embarking on journeys of exploration and innovation. The 9 artists featured in this exhibition—Li Shan, Ding Yi, Chen Zhen, Shen Fan, Li Lei, Qin Yifeng, Xia Yang, Xue Song, and Zheng Zaidong—embody Shanghai’s journey to the international art stage through their unique perspectives and talents.
