Michele Bubacco: new works

Litvak Contemporary is proud to present new works by Michele Bubacco
Michele Bubacco (b. 1983), an artist based between Austria and Italy, engages in a unique creative process that transforms found imagery into something unexpected and vibrant. His works begin with photographs, posters, or images saved on his phone—everyday visuals he paints over like an inverted collage. In this process, small, intentional fragments of the original image peek through, guiding Bubacco toward improvisational compositions that retain a hint of their origins yet morph into new figurative forms with surreal associations. Living in Venice, his environment deeply influences his work. The ever-present water, the soundscapes of bustling tourists, and the city’s layered history flow into his canvases, blending the familiar and the fantastical in fluid, expressive gestures. Bubacco's paintings are an exploration of fragmented memories and altered realities, immersing viewers in a narrative that is at once grounded in the mundane and elevated to the surreal.
