Amarist - Sculptural Alabaster Art

Amarist - Sculptural Alabaster Art

Amarist's sculptural works capture the timeless beauty of water fossilized in alabaster, blending art and nature to create, elegant, evocative pieces that speak to the fragility and permanence of our planet's most vital resource.
The Aqua Fossil Series explores the idea of a future where water, the primary source of life, has solidified into eternal forms, trapped in the Earth’s surface as a fossilized remnant. Through alabaster, a translucent and organic stone, water is represented in its purest state, transformed into a tangible fossil, a trace of what once was. Each piece in the collection embodies a dialogue between the fragility of this natural resource and the permanence of its absence, projecting a vision of time’s impact on nature. Arán Lozano and Clara Campo met in their hometown in the Pyrenees mountains, surrounded by nature and a craftsmanship environment. As they grew up they started to share concepts and ideas which prompted their creative practice together. The studio aims to be a merger between the ambit of Contemporary Art, Design and Craft, creating works that are both evocative and functional. Arán and Clara were listed on Forbes ’30 under 30’ Europe, among the 30 most influential young people in the field of Art and Culture.
Aqua Fossil Universe
Aqua Fossil Universe expands the idea of time and life on a cosmic scale. A hand-carved alabaster sphere, resembling a fossilized planet. Inside, a smaller sphere emits light, representing the remnant of vital energy. The light filtering through the stone reflects the eternal cycle of life and death, reminding us that even in darkness, life endures. Crafted through a meditative process, this sculpture pays tribute to the unceasing transformation of the universe.
Aqua Fossil Moon III
In Aqua Fossil Moon III, the circle symbolizes life's cycle and the cosmos. A round mirror, split between alabaster and glass, unites the past and infinity. One half, resembling a fossilized moon, evokes an ancient, eroded world. The other reflects the observer and the vast cosmic void, reminding us that even the present is a fading memory.
Aqua Fossil Soul III
Aqua Fossil Soul III reimagines alabaster as a fluid, liquid element, highlighting its molecular connection to water—the essence of life. The sculpture contrasts the roughness of concrete with the glowing beauty of alabaster, symbolizing how our souls shine through life's challenges. A stunning reflection of nature's origins and human resilience.
Aqua Fossil Bonsai
Created within the same conceptual framework, Bonsai is a fossilized natural plant with organic forms inspired by a hybrid between marine and terrestrial plant species. The concrete from which this species emerge reflects mankind’s’ transformation of the environment and adaptation that nature has to endure because of it.
Aqua Fossil Stream
The piece can be read as a delicate balance of coexistence where liquid water tries to follow its path while encountering artificial barriers. The fluid line of the alabaster captures the movement of water flowing in a torrent. The concrete represents man’s role  in the drastic changes that are affecting the  environment.
AMARIST FEATURED IN ELLE DECORATION SPAIN
AMARIST has been featured in the Spanish edition of ELLE Decoration. “One day we asked ourselves what would be the creative limits allowed by this material (alabaster stone). We were attracted by the idea of taking a traditional and rigid material to luminous and impossible forms until now.” “We like to create sensorial pieces that narrate the transformation and preservation of water in sculptural forms, which reflect it’s value as a vital resource and the origin of life.”
