Sevil Dolmacı Gallery is pleased to participate in the 57th edition of Art Cologne, taking place from November 7-10, 2024. With around 175 prominent galleries presenting a wide range of international art, Sevil Dolmacı Gallery invites visitors to explore works by renowned contemporary artists Ahmet Oran, Daniel Knorr, Ekrem Yalçındağ, and Ross Bleckner—artists whose works have been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums worldwide.
Ahmet Oran presents his latest creations, meticulously designed prior to execution. Known for his sophisticated use of color, Oran builds layered surfaces on paper or canvas by scraping paint with spatulas of varying widths. His abstract paintings illuminate the hidden facets of human experience, shaped by independent yet interconnected layers of memory. Daniel Knorr, known for his ability to balance seriousness and humor in his approach to art, creates thought-provoking works using unconventional materials to spark discussions on biopolitical, economic, historical, and socio-political issues. His casts from runway potholes and smoke-based installations are prime examples. At the fair, Knorr showcases pigment-infused polyurethane casts from his “Canvas Sculptures” series, inspired by historical sites and objects, alongside his new “Deep Surface – Self Portrait” series on satin using acrylic and the marbling technique. The “Canvas Sculptures” invite viewers to experience the inception of a creation—be it a thought, idea, or mere gesture—while the “Deep Surface–Portrait|Self-Portrait” series reveals the depths of the artist's perceptual reservoir, bringing what lies beneath to the surface.
Ekrem Yalçındağ presents his latest series, “Duality,” based on his “Natures” series of wood and silkscreen prints. The round works of “Duality” hold a unique position among contemporary circular paintings, engaging two bold colors in a powerful dialogue. The effect of colors converging yet maintaining distance is striking, resonating particularly in non-Western cultures. Yalçındağ’s dual-colored circular pieces not only broaden Western abstract color painting but also draw inspiration from the spiritually symbolic blue-and-white eye motif, still prevalent today.
Ross Bleckner’s work is an exploration of change, loss, and memory, reminding viewers of mortality and the importance of life, much like a “Memento Mori.” His haunting, semi-translucent images against dark gray, illusionistic backgrounds stand out. At the fair, examples of Bleckner’s work—created from bursts of color inspired by the afterimages seen after closing one’s eyes—will be on display.
Sevil Dolmacı Gallery warmly invites all art enthusiasts to visit Booth A419 in Hall 11.2 at Koelnmesse, from November 7-10, 2024.
