The Painting Center is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by Alyce Gottesman, In Harmony. Gottesman derives her primary inspiration from nature, particularly the Northern California seashore, where she spends meaningful time exploring the land and seascapes. She combines organic forms with geometric patterns, including influences from her long-held passion for vintage Amish quilt designs. Created with mixed media including fabric, paint, graphite, color pencils, and a highly saturated palette, these vibrant paintings are a culmination of Gottesman’s recent foray into sewing with textiles. She creates abstract environments of layered paint that harbor patterned forms made from fabric and paint.
Alyce Gottesman works in Jersey City, NJ, and Inverness, CA.
